Tabs for Wheelchairs 2025 Recipient - EGM
Throughout the 2023-24 school year, a grade 7 student, Laila Jajetovic, initiated a collection program at École George McDowell for Tabs for Wheelchairs. Laila was an unbelievable driving force with the Tabs for Wheelchairs program at École George McDowell and has inspired countless others to start saving tabs.
Laila's support of this program and her continued efforts to encourage donations helped raise $10,142.34 (a total of 12,328 lbs. or 380 bags of tabs). On June 19, the 2024 wheelchair recipient, Kyrie, was presented with her specialized wheelchair. We are so very proud of the contributions Laila made to this program and to Kyrie.
We are also very excited to announce that Laila has been selected as the 2025 recipient. Laila is now in grade 8 and is continuing to raise awareness and donations of tabs. Laila is excited to be the 2025 Tabs for Wheelchairs recipient. Her new power wheelchair will give her the independence and “Power” to challenge each and every day.
Please show your support and encouragement to Laila by saving and sending your aluminum tabs to the school throughout the year. Students can make their deposits at the office.
